Is it God’s will for me to go to college?
Is it God’s will for me to get married?
Is it God’s will for me to have a job?
Is it God’s will for me to…?

God gives us everything we need to know about what he wants us to do in this life that he has given us. And yet we all question what our life’s purpose is, and many people have spent years trying to figure it out.

We need to be willing to admit to God that we don’t have all of the answers to life’s questions because the reality is…we don’t have the answer to everything, but God’s Word does. It gives us insight into what God really wants us to do and who God wants us to be.

The Way of Fear

Wouldn’t it be nice for God to lay out our entire life right in front of us? We could see everything from the past, everything going on right now, and even see into the future what our life will look like. But that isn’t God’s way. If God revealed every single detail about our life it would cause us to live by fear and not by faith.

Jesus does not want us to worry about the future; because God already knows what we need. God’s way is not to show us what tomorrow looks like or even to tell us what decisions we should make tomorrow. That’s not His way because that’s not the way of faith. Never let your fear decide your future.

The Way of Faith

The one thing we know about God’s will is that He desires our growth in Christlikeness.

If you are seeking first the kingdom of God, you will be in God’s will, so just go out and do something. – KEVIN DEYOUNG

Walking by faith is our way of telling God, “I trust you, even when I can’t see the bend in the road.” Trusting in God means that we are willing to believe that what we can’t see, God can see perfectly and he’s going to get us where we need to go.

Proverbs 3:5-6 remind us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”

Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”

When you seek God in the Bible, you will find the right path you are supposed to stay on. We can be confident in God’s will when we are confident in God’s Word!
